Lorena Siminovich with her Husband and Daughter

How would you define the Petit Collage style philosophy?

Petit Collage is all about good design. With my team of designers, I create modern wall decor and accessories influenced by mid-century design.

What inspired you to become a designer and start a business?

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and I’m a helpless optimist. I have a background in product development working for a gift company in New York and when I moved to San Francisco I knew I wanted to start my own art and design studio.

Why did you choose to design and make children’s art?

I really like children and my art style naturally appeals to them. I also write and illustrate children’s books (I have over 20 books published!)  and the products I create are extensions of this creative expression. What makes me happy is knowing that customers appreciate the playfulness as well as the sophistication of our goods and have them in various rooms of their contemporary home.

What is your favorite part of your daily work when you reflect on the day, what is most rewarding?

Creating new products, finding exciting new materials, collaborating with my team and selling to nice stores make me quite content!

If you had to pick a favorite design from your collection, what would it be?

I am in love with our new elephant deluxe bamboo mobiles. I was really excited to see our bamboo mobiles evolve in texture and color. It was a wonderful discovery to realize that our bestselling mobiles could look even better!

What sets Petit Collage apart from other children’s art designers?

I believe it is our modern design sense, our aesthetic, color scheme and commitment to using the best eco-friendly materials available.

Do you have any news that you would like to share, perhaps about upcoming designs or introductions to your line?

I am terribly excited to share our new soft goods including modern dolls and pillows as well as our largest arwork offering to date – jumbo wood panels with striking graphics printed directly on wood!
