2014 Nursery Trends: Pops of Purple

Purple is the hottest color of the year – just ask Pantone, who picked the vibrant hue as the color of the year, or Project Nursery that listed it as a 2014 Nursery Design Trend! We love this color so much that we have TWO Pinterest boards (2014 Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid & Pretty in Purple) totally dedicated to celebrating it! Here are a few of our favorite uses of every hue from plum to lilac!

Take a walk on the wild side of purple with the Girly Purple Leopard Ruffle Crib Bedding Set from Caden Lane! The ombre effect combined with the leopard pattern makes this bedding ultra feminine and super sophisticated!

2014 Nursery Trends: Statement Cribs

Our next trend comes again from Project Nursery’s 2014 Nursery Trends. Cribs with big personality are being seen more and more this year! Modern cribs with clean lines are fantastic, but a crib with embellishments makes a huge impact in the nursery and can easily become the focal point of the room. Tulle, rhinestones, upholstery, studs… you name it, these cribs have it!

If you are a bit reserved about the statement crib idea, try an easy and approachable option for your statement crib. The Panel Conversion Crib is both practical and spectacular with a touch of color for embellishment. It can be that easy!
PanelConversionCrib
Another easy, yet powerful embellishment option is upholstered side panels. The Beverly Crib with Upholstered Panels is a perfect example of a standard crib elevated to something a bit more spectacular!
BeverlyCrib
If you want to up the adornment, try something like the Chelsea Sleigh Crib in Antique Silver which transforms a classic sleigh crib into a piece with a bigger ‘wow factor’! Its gorgeous relief carvings and sophisticated hand rubbed finish create an energy of absolute opulence.

ChelseaSleighCrib
We couldn’t stay away from a modern crib. While the Vetro Crib may not be embellished with moldings or fabrics, you can’t deny its bold personality! It’s sure to grab your guests’ attention and be something they have never seen before!

Project Nursery
claims that the bigger the personality of the crib, the better! What says personality more than a carriage crib like this Pumpkin Iron Crib?! This is the ultimate statment piece for any princess room! This crib takes on a classic fairytale and makes it your little one’s reality. No one will be able to deny that this crib is truly something special.

2014 Nursery Trends: Navy

After viewing Project Nursery’s 2014 Nursery Trends, we decided to take on and interpret a few of our favorite trends and bring them straight to you! First up, is the color trend navy. Navy is such a classic color that easily inspires a traditional nursery, but can be used in unique ways!

PreppyNavyBoyCribBeddingThis Preppy Navy Boy Crib Bedding by Caden Lane uses Navy paired with green in an eye catching way. The green pops against the navy rug and the striped wall.
Navy Bedding SetNavy is also a favorite used in polka dot and chevron patterns! This Navy Chevron Bedding Set by New Arrivals is a fun way to use the color in a “big kid” room. Paired alongside a few blue accents, the room is instantly in style!

Remember when we mentioned using navy in unconventional ways? Here is a perfect example of that in a little girl’s nursery inspiration. It is so easy to think of the classic use of navy in a little boy’s nursery that we tend to forget that navy looks darling when paired with pink! The two colors pop when placed side by side, but not too dramatically!

Of course we had to create a navy boy’s room! Not venturing too far off the traditional route, we paired navy with another trendy color – gray – as well as warm wood tones for a solid, rooted style. The colors may be traditional, but the modern furniture by Oeuf and the chevron bedding by Caden Lane easily update this room!

High Point Market – Fall 2013

Last month, our merchandising team made the trek just down the road to High Point Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. For those not familiar with this trade show, it is the largest furniture show in the world with over 11 million square feet of show space. Needless to say, we always have a ton of fun exploring the latest trends and bringing these stylish products back to our fabulous customers on Rosenberry Rooms! Here are some highlights and notable trends of our trip this fall.

We were able to visit with the fabulous Jane and Billy from Stray Dog Designs. Not ones to shy away from color, their booth was an explosion of cheerful hues and whimsical designs. We especially fell in love with the fun chicken inspired pieces!

We popped into the Ro Sham Beaux booth that was dripping in lovely glass beads and kaleidoscope-like colors. Those agate pendants and sconces are so dreamy! We were especially smitten with the miniature glass base lamps with itty bitty gold tassels. These would look so chic on a child’s nightstand (or parents, too!).

Surya was next up on the list and, as usual, was chock full of the most amazing rug designs. We were coveting this multi-colored chevron rug as well as the oh-so-romantic white floral rug. The ladybug rugs are pretty darned cute, too! Surya also has a fantastic selection of poppy accessories. Our favorites were the polka dot pillows, gilded chevron pillows, preppy hounds-tooth pillows, and beach-y striped poufs.

The artwork by Oliver and Mabel is one of our favorites, and we love the story behind the pieces. Named after the artist’s own adopted dog, he donates 7% of sales to help keep stray dogs healthy and cared for. I want the Peony artwork for my home!

Wrapping up our day, we saw a few new furniture collections. Drawing inspiration from vintage furniture and gray weathered finishes, these girls’ furniture collections are simply darling. We are suckers for an ultra girly room!

Furniture-1Furniture-2Furniture-3

As I am sure you can see, the biggest theme from this market was color – and lots of it! From jewel tones to tropical hues, color was splashed all over furniture, lighting, decor, and artwork. Another trend that kept showing its furry little face around market? Foxes! On rugs, bedding, and accessories, these fun foxes would be perfect for a little gentleman’s nursery or modern boy’s room.

Fashion Trends Found in the Home!

Every year when the seasons change so do trends in the fashion world. Taking inspiration from our favorite 2013 fall/winter styles, Rosenberry Rooms has created fun ways to transform your seasonal wardrobe into a well-designed room.

Leather is everywhere this season: skirts, skinnies, even embellishments on tops. If you are into a more rock-and-roll vibe both in and out of your home, then crank up the Rolling Stones and feel the leather love. This black leather rug or diaper bag is perfect for a touch of toughness. Expand on the trend with pieces that accentuate leather, like this pouf or decorative mirror.

FashionTrends_Leather

Houndstooth will never go out of style. We see this pattern in fashion consistently because it is basically a “fancy” plaid. You can keep it classy in the kitchen with this black and white personalized pot holder and when you are on the go with this gold diaper bag. On the other hand you can have fun decorating with bright-colored houndstooth, like this aqua light switch plate cover and these yellow and blue rugs.

FashionTrends_Houndstooth2

The military trend is another that seems to have a consistent influence in fashion. The literal way to design with a military mind is to use camo, seen in this super fun tent as well as the wall canvas. Subtle touches can be accomplished with a color palette of greens, browns, blacks, and gold accents. This lamp, diaper bag, and multifunctional module all give off a militant feel.

It may seem like a huge challenge to translate your fashion taste into your home, but with the right combination of pieces and a clear vision it can be accomplished! Which trends are you loving most this season?

Top 5 Nursery Color Combos!

When it comes to designing a baby’s nursery or a child’s room, we believe that there are no rules, you can just have fun with it! Today we wanted to share some of our favorite color combinations for the nursery that breakaway from the traditional. Surprising combos, bold hues and daring choices are what make a space you and your baby will love. Bring out your inner designer and don’t be afraid to take a risk!

Coral & Navy

coral and navy nursery

One of the hottest color combos for summer, coral and navy is a bolder and more vibrant version of the traditional baby pink and baby blue. For a refreshing and contemporary take on a classic, pair these two gorgeous tones with a crisp white and you can’t go wrong.

Orange & Aqua

orange and blue nursery

Create a fresh and summery look with this surprising combination! A splash of orange pairs perfectly with a cool aqua or even a sky blue. Don’t be afraid to throw in some fun, geometric prints too!

Pink & Gray

pink and gray nursery

This subtle-sweet combination is perfect for a calm and soothing nursery design. The accents of pink add a femininity to the room and the inclusion of gray keeps it from being too girly.

Navy & Green

navy and green nursery

It can be so hard to break away from the traditional blue and white for a boy’s nursery. What do we recommend? Throwing in a bold, kelly green! It really brightens up the space and gives the room a preppy feel. Push an understated nautical theme with true white and rope accents like the drawers and table decor in the space pictured above.

Gray & White

When it comes to gender neutral nurseries, gray is becoming a really popular choice. It’s simple yet contemporary and understated yet full of style. The really great thing about gray is that it literally goes with everything! So after your baby is born, you can add any color accents without diluting the look of your nursery design.

Design Inspiration: Navy Girl's Nursery

With the latest trends in nursery and kids’ room design, you don’t have to stick to conventional rules or limitations such as pastel pink for a girl’s room or baby blue for a boy’s room. In fact, with the amount of colorful bedding, unique decor, and custom options available from designers today, it would be a crime to not have fun with your child’s room design!  We love blurring the lines of the traditional gender specific color palettes and combining unexpected hues with bold prints. What matters most though, is that YOU love the room and that you’ve created a welcoming and inspiring space for your child.

Today I wanted to explore the use of blue in a baby girl’s room. We see aqua and turquoise tones often but I’m talking dark, navy blue. When paired with brighter colors like coral or lime green, or even chic gold accents, this can be a really exciting combination for the foundation of a beautiful space for a little girl.

Navy & Coral makes for a chic and refreshing feel. The gold accents kick the style up a notch, too!

Navy & Hot Pink is a preppy combo that’s both bold and classic. Throw in crisp white accents to keep it clean and fresh.

If you don’t want to use pink tones at all, these crib bedding sets from New Arrivals Inc have whimsical prints that make them versatile enough to work for both a girl’s or a boy’s nursery.
