Designed for the world famous New York Guggenheim Museum, the Guggenheim mobile is a tribute to the wonderful architecture of the museum and its place within the New York culture and iconography. Much time and imagination from both sides of the Atlantic was spent designing this mobile, and it is a unique, artistic masterpiece. This new Guggenheim Mobile not only explores the architecture but, as with all Flensted Mobiles, also allows the shapes to move and change. Movement allows light, seen through the tens of tiny windows in each of the buildings, to change in a similar way to the building itself, which ingeniously used its circular structure to allow sunlight to filter through and reflect light naturally: a wonderful way to view art!

Creating magnificent hanging mobiles is a traditional craft of Denmark. With the help of his wife to create his first modern mobile in 1954, Christian Flensted became known as the "Uromager", which means a "maker of things mischievous and always on the move". Today, Christian's son, Ole, and his wife continue the tradition, constantly creating new and original ideas for mobiles. Careful thought ensures that all Flensted Mobiles are designed so that the elements are in constant motion while the entire mobile maintains a harmonic balance. To achieve this, each mobile is carefully assembled and balanced by skillful hands in Denmark. The mobiles are then packed so that they are ready to hang straight from the box!
